We, Bertie’s daughters, Órlagh, Bébhinn and Keelin, wish to express our sincere gratitude for all the support shown to us following the loss of Dad.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all our extended family and friends, and to all those in our community and beyond, who sympathised and assisted us during this difficult time. In particular, we will be forever indebted to Jim Bann and family, particularly Naomi, Julie, Sophie, Rosa, Danny and Mark, for their invaluable help in organising Dad’s wake and for so generously providing refreshments throughout. Sincere appreciation also to all those who attended the wake, brought food, or who helped out in any way. Many thanks to our extended family who attended Dad’s private funeral service and to those who kindly sent sympathy/mass cards, phoned us, sent flowers or who expressed condolences on social media. We were genuinely consoled by the outpouring of heartfelt sympathy and support.

Our deepest gratitude is extended to all those who administered to and cared for Dad during his illness. Many thanks to the District Nursing Team and the Speech and Language Team, Omagh, and to the staff of North West Cancer Centre in Altnagelvin, Derry. We also acknowledge the dedicated staff of Palliative Care, Ward 5, in Omagh. We also convey our appreciation to the staff of Brookmount Pharmacy for all their assistance. We would also like to acknowledge Theresa and the staff at Hillbank Fold for their unfaltering support and kindness to Dad, and all of us, during his illness.

We are indebted to Sean O’Kane, Drumquin, Funeral Director and to his team, for the dignified and professional manner in which the organisation of Dad’s funeral was carried out. We would also like to acknowledge the staff of Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, for their sensitive assistance on the day of Dad’s service. Sincere thanks to Eamon McElholm and Shaunagh Poyntz for the beautiful music and singing which truly elevated Dad’s service. In addition, we would also like to commend Sarah Daly (The Daisy Chain) for her gorgeous flower arrangements.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to Rev. Eleanor Hayden, Omagh Methodist Church, for her gentle spiritual guidance, as she sensitively presided over the committal of Dad’s ashes.

We trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all who assisted us so kindly, as a token of our genuine, profound gratitude.
