Latest Sympathy Notices

The sweetest Auntie and kindest soul. I’ll remember her so fondly for all her spoiling me as a child. Her beautifully calligraphy on timely birthday cards, letters and congratulation cards. Always delivered on time by the postman with a heartfelt message no matter where we were in the world . Auntie Maureen always had the ability to make you feel special and valued. She brimmed with talent. So musical too; a pianist and soprano and a choir member for decades. She was proud of her musical roots with her mum and dad both playing Glen Miller style swing in the Savoy and the musical skills of her talented sons Jimmy on saxophone and John on drums. Playing both classical orchestras settings and later The PM big band producing swing style songs that her dear parents would have done before them.
Maureen was a great listener, never judging and always encouraging. Telephone conversations could last a long time and usually ended in hearty laughter.
She lived simply, lavishing only her time and attention on others. She loved her adventures with her community groups, church groups and with her golden girls. She also adored travelling with her friends particularly on the grand cruise ships. Sometimes it was hard to pin Maureen down to a date as she had so much on. A busy happy life.
My most cherished memory is of Anutie Maureen as Brown Owl in the girl guide movement. She invited me along to join her pack on excursions and pack holidays. She was adored by all the girls and leaders alike, gently encouraging each girl to do their best, to do their duty to God and obey the brownie guide law. Many of those young brownies would tell me how lucky I was to have Brown Owl as my Auntie. Of course I already knew that.
Rest in Peace dearest Auntie Maureen. Thank you for all you love and devotion to me and all the family. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. X Friday 01 January 2021 Mrs Jane Mawson né Wilson, Banbridge
