The President of Trinity College Dublin Association Northern Ireland (TCDANI) Dr Cecil R Bates, Officers and Committee, are saddened by the death of their friend and colleague John P B Maxwell who was a former TCDANI President (2009-2011) and more recently a member of the Committee.
They offer their deepest sympathy to his wife Valerie, family and friends and to all colleagues at the Bar.
John’s genial and welcoming presence has enriched our lives as have his many acts of kindness, generosity, charitable understanding and compassion.
His abiding interest in TCDANI and in all matters relating to Trinity College Dublin was inspirational and encouraging. Here too his support for his beloved Alma Mater was something in which the took a discreet pride and satisfaction. Through his participation in matters of concern, we have all benefitted from his compassion, wisdom and understanding.
May that his memory now continue as a blessing in our lives.
John knew well the opening words of the first Grace at Commons: he continued to be inspired by them:
“Occuli omnium in Te spirant Domini “ Psalm 145:15.
{The eyes of all look to You Lord in Hope}
May he rest in peace.
