In loving memory of Aunt Annie…

Aunt Annie was a diamond in a world of too many rocks. She had not one mean bone in her body, nor did she ever utter an unkind word… not even towards those who may have deserved it.

Thirty years ago, Aunt Annie packed up her bags and travelled out to Canada for six months to babysit our firstborn little princess Sarah-Jane. As luck would have it, Canada experienced the coldest winter in the past hundred years but Aunt Annie laughed bravely and navigated the storms in good humour.

As always, she arrived at the airport, with her suitcase, stuffed NOT of clothes as one might imagine, but instead loaded with heavenly sweets! It was always such a delight to anticipate the goodies she would be bringing!

Aunt Annie loved to laugh, and we all loved to laugh along with her! When she would visit her older sister, Jane in Canada, they would have discussions that would go something like this. “Sure Jane, you’ve kept all these things, and you just don’t need them ! You need to rid them out!“
Jane would respond, “I do need them Annie I might be finishing that knitting I started 10 years ago.”
Aunt Annie would shake her head in disbelief and say, “Sure Jane. whoever you started that jumper for has no need of it now… just rid it out and let it go !” Aunt Annie was the only one who could convince Jane to part with her treasured hoard.

Aunt Annie was always such great fun and brought sunshine to ordinary days. We have so many happy memories of her, and our lives were all the better for having known her. We believe she is reunited with her dear sister, and the many people she longed to see again.

Aunt Annie lived her life with grace and courage, blessing all of us who came to know her. She will be deeply missed… Aunt Annie you were our treasure and we love you!
