Edward (Eddie) O'KANE

The wife and family of the late Edward (Eddie) O’Kane, Clon Rd, Eglinton, wish to express their gratitude for the sympathy and kind support received in the recent sad loss of a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, brother of Maureen, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Sincere thanks to extended family, friends, neighbours and those who travelled from near or far to attend the wake or funeral, sent flowers, Mass or Sympathy cards, brought food and helped in any way.

A heartfelt thanks to Fr. Noel McDermott P.P. for his spiritual support, for attending and visiting Eddie in his final years and for the beautiful heartfelt Requiem Mass which celebrated Eddie’s life in a warm and personal manner. To Fidelma McCormack and Aine McDaid for the beautiful music and singing. Thank you to everyone who assisted in St. Marys Church, Tamnaherin, especially the sacristans, Angela and Colin King, the gravediggers and Slaughtmanus GAA for use of the hall for the tea and refreshments provided by Shauna and her staff from Cassidy’s Cafe.

A special word of thanks to doctors and staff of Wards 24 and 42 (Altnagelvin Hospital) the medical staff and District Nurses at Eglinton Medical Centre, the carers of both The Bryson and The Northwest Care Groups, and Marie Curie Nurse, Tanya. Particular thanks to Eddie’s granddaughter-in-law, Caroline Duffy, who cared so tenderly for him at home in his final days.

To W.J O’Brien and Son Funeral Directors, Eglinton, especially Ciaran, for the professional, compassionate and dignified manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements.

As it would not be possible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our heartfelt thanks. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.

Forever loved and sadly missed by his wife, Mary, his sons, daughters and the entire family circle.

Eddie’s Month Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Tamnaherin. on Sunday 25th February at 10 am. Mass can be viewed online on the Parish webcam.

Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my Trust in thee.
