Acknowledgement of the late Malachy Toner (R.I.P)

We the family of the late Malachy Toner, loving husband of Betty, beloved father of Paul, Liam and Kevin, cherished grandfather of Gracie, James and Frankie and beloved father-in-law of Aisling and Aoibheann, and the entire family circle would like to express our deepest and sincere thanks to our extended family, friends, club mates, neighbour’s and those who travelled to sympathise and support us on the recent passing of our precious father Malachy.

We would also like to include those who sent mass cards, letters, floral tributes, and messages of condolences via social media. Our greatest gratitude to those who helped during the wake and funeral, including those who generously provided food and refreshments in our time of mourning. We will be forever grateful and have taken great comfort from your kindness and support.

We express gratitude towards the Doctors in Newtownhamilton Surgery, the staff of Daisy Hill Hospital and Belfast City Hospital who treated Dad with such loving, professional and dignified manner throughout his time in their care.

We will be forever indebted to Dads beloved St. Patricks GFC for all their support during this difficult time, from the organisation of parking at Dads wake, the funeral and the remarkable guard of honour shown for Dad. A special mention also to our U-12 players and St Patricks Primary School for their guard of honour.

We would like to pay a very special mention to our All-Ireland Intermediate Championship winning senior team. You gave us some of our best memories with Dad in the last 6 months of his life in the run to Croke Park on that never to be forgotten day on 14th January. As gutting as it was for Dad to miss the game the fact that our Captain Pearse Casey took time to mention Dad on the steps of the Hogan Stand is something we will be forever grateful for. Thank you Pearse. Also, thanks to manager Stephen Reel and team for their amazing presence at the wake and presenting the 3 trophies to sit beside Dads remains throughout the wake. He would have been so honoured. Thank you, boys.

We would like to sincerely thank Canon Michael Toner, for his spiritual guidance and support especially during Dads last days. You were of great comfort to both Dad and ourselves. Thank you also for the beautiful funeral mass.

Thanks also to Dearbhla McCoy and Joanna Doran for the beautiful music and singing during the funeral mass.

Many thanks to Mona McEntee and her staff for providing the beautiful food and excellent service after the funeral, and again to St Patricks GFC for the use of their facilities. St Patricks clubhouse was one of Dads favourite places to be.

Thank you to the grave digger Andrew Stephenson whom carefully prepared Dads final resting place. Also thank you to James Murray for the beautiful flower arrangements.

A special thanks to our extended Toner and Caherty family for everything, not only during the wake and funeral but also in the weeks before and after Dads passing. There are too many to mention but special thanks to Mums sisters Una and Paula for the amazing support throughout this time.

A final special word of thanks to Murray Funeral Directors Cullyhanna. To Seamus and our own Aisling (Daughter-in-law) and James (Grandson) for their professionalism, compassion and dignified manner they showed throughout the wake and funeral. How lucky we are to have them as part of our family.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this as a token of our sincere appreciation, gratitude and heartfelt thanks. A holy mass will be offered up for your intentions.

Malachys Months Mind will be celebrated on Sunday the 14th April at 11.30am in St. Patricks Church, Cullyhanna.

Forever in our hearts, thank you Dad for everything you did for us! Rest in peace.

Our lady of Knock pray for Malachy.

Have you considered?
