Philip Gerard MacKENNA

Dear Cathy, Wee Martin Mc Cafferty here. I want to respect your privacy, so I can understand if you don't want to talk at this sad time. But I just wanted to say. Phillip was such a good man in every way love, so funny (the laughs we all had at home, New York and Luxembourg) and so level headed and kind, but most of all - one of life's true gentlemen.
I, like so many other young men in The Lansdowne Court Hotel "admired him as a friend first and our boss".
Cathy, Phillip and yourself shaped so many good hardworking young men's lives and I am so proud to say he was my mentor in Hospitality.
I just seen a wee picture of you and him in a tribute on the black stuff website.

He gave me a job at 15 and shaped most of my working life, god bless him Cathy he was a legend and there will never be another Phillip Mc Kenna. I'm so sorry for you love and please forgive me for not keeping in touch as much as I should have. I had to say how good a man he was.
So rest in peace Phill and thank you for helping make a man of me and so many others. There's not a man in hospitality i know could lace your boots. At least i can say i followed (tortured) you and Cathy round the world.

Phil & Cathy leaving Luxembourg was a big moment and left a huge hole over here in peoples lives. They both were a giant guiding influence for many of us down the years and to see that partnership split, breaks us all up. Phil, we love you and miss you, Cathy, our heart cries with you on the passing of one of the good ones!
