He was a gentle giant who gave so much of his time and energy to serving the entire community. I met him through St John Ambulance where he excelled in leadership and in delivering training programmes. I remember being assessed on my first aid skills one day and nearly breaking every bone in his body in trying (and failing) to put him into the recovery position. His life impacted so many lives; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
