I wasn't ready Nanny, for this day to be here,
I wasn't ready to say goodbye or for your smile to disappear.
I wasn't ready to let you go or let go of your hand,
I wasn't ready to lose you Nanny but I do understand.
I know that you were suffering, I saw your struggle and your pain
and the only thing that keeps me strong is knowing you're smiling again.
I know you're with my Granda, and now he'll look after you
and maybe that's where you belong, but I wanted you here too.
It's hard to know our times are gone,
no more nights of laughs, with buns and tea,
no more nights of staying up late, talking, just you and me.
I'll miss those nights forever, but in my heart I'll hold them dear,
and everytime I close my eyes, I'll picture you right here.
